Dr. Stefanie Peters graduated from Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen in 1986 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. In 1989 she completed her doctoral thesis and received the title “Dr. Med Vet”. She began working at the Birkenfeld Veterinary Hospital January 1987, focusing on Veterinary Dermatology in 1989. Since 1994, she has worked as head of dermatology/allergology in the hospital, with about 85% patients as second/third opinion or referred. She began participating at numerous external and internal dermatological meetings, including the co-organisation of the „Controversies in Veterinary Dermatology“ for many years. In 1990 she became an Associate Member of the European Society of Veterinary Dermatology (ESVD), ultimately becoming a full member in 1995. Between 1992 and 1996 she attended several ESAVS Dermatology courses (Dermatology I-III and Dermatohistopathology). In 1998 she completed part one of the Diploma of European College of Veterinary Dermatology exam. From 2000-2002, she held the position as President of the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Veterinärdermatologie (DGVD)” or German Society of Veterinary Dermatology, where she remained as head of the program committee until 2009. In June 2019 she was President of the 11th DGVD congress „Important Autoimmune/Immune Mediated Skin Diseases“. To this day, she is a speaker for numerous meetings in veterinary and human dermatology in Europe and China, author of many publications in veterinary dermatology; author of 3 dermatology books, and reviewer for various German veterinary journals.
