Radiographic Appearance of Discospondylitis

Infection of the interverterbral discs and adjacent vertebral bodies can affect dogs and less commonly cats. Common clinical signs are weight loss, anorexia, depression, fever, reluctance to run or jump, and apparent spinal pain. Diagnostic Imaging plays an important role in diagnosis this condition. This discussion will focus on the radiographic appearance of discospondylitis and how advance imaging modality like CT and MRI can help in difficult scenario. Case studies will be used to increase student’s learning experience.
